Dimensions Review

Last week I posted that the most recent dieselpunk movie "Dimensions: A Line, A Loop, A Tangle of Threads" was to have its red carpet premier and would be released to the public. I was honored recently with an opportunity for a special viewing of the movie. Following are my impressions.

I always had high hopes for Dimensions and I was very pleased when I watched it.  The story begins early in the 1920s when a trio of friends, Stephen, Conrad, and Victoria, who while children learn from a professor of the possibility of time travel. After a tragedy, Stephen becomes obsessed with the possibility of traveling through time and dedicates his life to its pursuit. By the time we see him as an adult he is obsessed with the idea. Gradually, Stephen begins to question his own sanity and wonder what’s real and what’s not.

Others who have reviewed the film have described it as "A Beautiful Mind meets H.G. Wells" and "Downton Abby on acid".  I think those are both fantastic descriptions. The cinematography of Dimensions is truly beautiful and elegant. The acting is superb. In addition, the storyline is creative with turns and twists.

Dimensions takes Dieselpunk Cinema to a completely new level of intelligence and sophistication and I highly recommend this excellent movie.
